Australia are 8/13 outright favourites with BOYLE Sports to put a rare failure in 2024 behind them and win the upcoming 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup in England.
The Southern Stars had won the tournament three times in a row before losing to South Africa , who were then beaten by New Zealand in the final in Dubai two years ago.
Here we take a look at the contenders to prevail in the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup.
Australia aiming to bring back old glories under new captain
The Australians had won six of the eight editions heading into the tournament in Dubai two years ago, but they were brushed aside in the semi-finals by South Africa. That meant there would be a brand-new name on the cup, and it was New Zealand who capitalised on the absence of their mighty trans-Tasman rivals by beating South Africa by 32 runs in the final.
New Zealand are 25/1 underdogs to retain their trophy in 2026 while South Africa, who were runners-up in 2023 as well and have reached the last three white-ball finals, are 10/1 to finally get over the line and claim their first world title.

Contenders
India looking to double up but form a concern
Above New Zealand and South Africa in the betting are the three cricketing superpowers of Australia , India and England , and it is hard to look beyond one of them lifting the trophy this summer. Australia , who also relinquished their 50-over world title to India in 2025 after losing a high-scoring semi-final thriller against the host nation in Mumbai , are the world’s top-ranked side and boast a host of match winners throughout their side, which will be captained by Sophie Molineux following Alyssa Healy's retirement.
They are the clear favourites to emerge victorious at Lord’s on July 5, and are our tip for the title, but they are by no means the only show in town. The ever-dangerous Indians are 7/2 to become limited-over world champions in both formats , although they are not in the best of form heading into the tournament having suffered a 4-1 series loss in South Africa and a 2-1 defeat to England.
England eyeing Lord's repeat
Hosts England, second in the world rankings , will hope to make the most of home advantage once again, having won the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup title at Lord’s in 2009. The three-time runners-up have been drawn in the easier pool, avoiding Australia , India and South Africa in the 'group of death', and their attack should mean they are always in with a chance.
They have four players ranked in the top six of the ICC’s T20I bowling rankings with spinner Linsey Smith top, Laurent Bell third and Charlie Dean and Sophie Ecclestone five and sixth respectively. Batting may be more of a worry, though, with captain and talisman Nat Sciver-Brunt, who has not played an international match in seven months due to a calf injury and missed the warm-up wins over New Zealand and India , their top-ranked player at 18th.
Australia , in comparison, have four players in the top 14, including top two Georgia Voll and Beth Mooney, and number six Tahlia McGrath. Of the other potential World Cup contenders, Sri Lanka are 66/1 while the West Indies, who are the only other nation to win the title thanks to their success in 2016, are 80/1 outsiders.
