Atletico reached the Champions League semi-finals and Copa del Rey final last season but their league campaign was a different story. They finished a massive 25 points behind champions Barcelona in fourth place and their 11 defeats were the most they had suffered in a single campaign since 2012.
That came after a poor start which saw them win only one of their opening six games - including that 3-2 loss at Liverpool - but Diego Simeone’s men have enjoyed a better return this season.
