Liverpool will attempt to make the most of home advantage once again and compound Arsenal’s misery following their shock Carabao Cup last-16 exit when the pair meet on Sunday. The Gunners suffered one of the biggest upsets in cup history on Tuesday after being dumped out by Fleetwood, the League Two strugglers winning 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
The Premier League champions, who saw teenage star Max Dowman sent off at Fleetwood’s Highbury Stadium, will be keen to banish the memory of that match as soon as possible, but a trip to Anfield is unlikely to provide much solace for Mikel Arteta’s wounded side.
Liverpool have not lost at home to Arsenal outside of a penalty shoot-out since Robin van Persie’s stoppage-time strike clinched a 2-1 victory in 2012, with the Reds winning eight of 17 meetings between the two at Anfield since then.
Liverpool are in a rich vein of form right now, overcoming Villarreal, Brighton and Chelsea in successive matches over the last two weeks, and they will look to add Arsenal’s scalp to that list this weekend. We think the points will be shared, though and, with this fixture only finishing goalless four times this century at any venue, we’re going for a draw with both teams scoring @ 10/3 as our opening Liverpool vs Arsenal prediction.

Form Guides
Liverpool Form Guide
Liverpool may not be anywhere near the finished article yet under Andoni Iraola but they have made a decent start to the season nonetheless, and look to be getting better by the game. Since requiring late equalisers to escape with 2-2 draws in their opening two matches against Newcastle and Nottingham Forest, Liverpool have won nine of 11 games in all competitions, including Wednesday’s Carabao Cup penalty shoot-out win over Chelsea.
That cup success followed Sunday’s 2-0 win over Premier League high-flyers Brighton as Liverpool finally picked up their first home league win at the fourth attempt under Iraola. Alexander Isak notched his sixth of the campaign against the Seagulls and the Sweden striker, who also converted his kick in Wednesday’s shoot-out, is 15/8 to add another this weekend.
We also like a BOYLE Sports Super Boost of both teams to score @ Evens. Liverpool have netted in all but two of their fixtures this season, while Arsenal have only failed to notch once in their 14 outings.
Arsenal Form Guide
Arsenal may have left with egg on their faces in midweek but that was a rare setback in what has been another flying start to the season from the champions. Prior to their Carabao Cup embarrassment, the Gunners had won 11 of 13 matches, including the Community Shield, while keeping eight clean sheets in the process.
They had been beaten just once, going down 3-0 to Brighton just before the international break, while the only other game they failed to win was a 2-2 Champions League draw at Bayern Munich.
Arteta has several fitness concerns ahead of the trip to Anfield, with Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Riccardo Calafiori among those battling injuries but, such is Arsenal’s strength in depth, they still have plenty of quality to call on.
Viktor Gyökeres will hope his first goal of the season at Fleetwood will spark a return to form and he is 7/4 to net at any time against Liverpool. We’re not expecting a deluge of goals at Anfield though, and we’re going for a draw with under 3.5 goals in total @ 7/2 to round off our Liverpool vs Arsenal betting tips.
