Round two of this season’s top-flight fixtures has thrown up some interesting match-ups and we’ve picked out four selections for our Premier League predictions .
If all of the tips are successful, an accumulator will provide us with a profit of over 10/1 .
Bournemouth vs Everton
Everton to win or draw at Bournemouth @ 3/4
The Toffees had to ride their luck a bit early on against Crystal Palace but ultimately ran out worthy 2-0 winners and Wednesday’s 4-0 Carabao Cup triumph at Preston was another indicator that they have hit the ground running this term.
Everton weren’t bad travellers in the Premier League last term by any means, posting seven wins and five draws away from home, including a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium .
Coventry vs Hull
Coventry vs Hull under 2.5 total goals @ 20/23
These two newly-promoted teams had contrasting fortunes in the first round of Premier League fixtures, with Coventry being outclassed in a 3-0 defeat away to champions Arsenal , while Hull sent their home fans wild by beating Manchester United 2-0 .
The Sky Blues remain favourites for this clash due to finishing 22 points clear of the Tigers in last season’s Championship table, but their head-to-head form points towards a tight tussle . Both meetings ended in goalless stalemates to make it five draws from their last seven encounters, so 23/10 for another draw at CBS Arena is tempting , but we’ll go with a low-scoring result instead.
Tottenham vs Newcastle
Tottenham vs Newcastle both teams to score @ 1/2
Most of the doom and gloom which emerged in response to the Magpies’ turbulent off-season evaporated during an entertaining opening clash with Liverpool at St James’ Park . A last-ditch penalty equaliser for the Reds put a slight dampener on proceedings, but Newcastle fans must have been really encouraged by such an upbeat performance under new boss Matthias Jaissle .
United followed that up with a 3-2 Carabao Cup victory over West Brom on the same night that Tottenham bounced back from a 3-0 drubbing at Brentford in fine style by hammering Charlton 5-1, which included a cracking cameo from £75million signing Savio . Both teams have scored in the last four Premier League meetings between these teams and, in fact, this bet would have only lost once in 13 top-flight encounters.
Sunderland vs Fulham
Sunderland to beat Fulham @ 11/8
The Black Cats were made to pay for a couple of unforced errors at the back when starting the new season with a surprise 2-1 loss at newly promoted Ipswich , but they did play OK at Portman Road , having over 62 per cent of the possession. “I think overall, the performance was not so bad,” insisted head coach Regis Le Bris , who led Sunderland to an excellent seventh-place finish last season.
Fulham showed plenty of promise going forward in a 3-2 home loss to Chelsea , but Alvaro Arbeloa’s high-pressing tactics left them very open at the back and it may take more time for the Cottagers to adjust.
