England booked a fourth World Cup semi-final spot as they edged past Norway 2-1 in extra time.
Thomas Tuchel’s men have not done things the easy way this summer and had to dig deep once again after Jordan Pickford misjudged Andreas Schjelderup’s cross-shot to give Norway hope of a historic semi-final spot.
But Jude Bellingham , like so often this summer, sparkled for his country and slammed home a leveller just before the break and netted the winner in extra time.
Here we look at how the players rated:
Jordan Pickford
Jordan Pickford - 5 (out of 10)
Became England’s record World Cup appearance holder with his 18th match but will not want to see Schjelderup’s goal again.
Ezri Konsa
Ezri Konsa - 6
Started at right-back following the suspension to Jarell Quansah and defended solidly.
John Stones
John Stones - 7
Came back into the side and, other than a nervy first-half moment, defended against Erling Haaland very well.
Marc Guehi
Marc Guehi - 7
Overcame a hamstring problem and put in a strong display, not giving Haaland a chance.
Nico O'Reilly
Nico O'Reilly - 5
His limitations at left-back were again highlighted and he did not get the space he enjoys going forward.
Elliot Anderson
Elliot Anderson - 8
A machine in midfield who got better as the game wore on, winning the ball back time after time.
Declan Rice
Declan Rice - 5
Seemed off the pace throughout the first half following a recent sickness bug and was replaced at half-time.
Noni Madueke
Noni Madueke - 4
Returned to the starting XI but only lasted until half-time after a disappointing performance on the right wing.
Jude Bellingham
Jude Bellingham - 10
England’s star player almost single-handedly dragged his country through to the semi-finals with two goals.
Anthony Gordon
Anthony Gordon - 6
Was a willing runner and his one moment of success saw him set up Bellingham for England’s equaliser.
Harry Kane
Harry Kane - 6
Could not add to his tally of six goals on a quiet day where he was dispossessed for Norway’s opener.
