Treaty star odds-on after All-Ireland triumph

Gearóid Hegarty is being widely tipped to land the Hurler of the Year award following Limerick’s latest All-Ireland success, with BOYLE Sports pricing the towering forward as a near certainty for the honour.

The Treaty claimed the Liam MacCarthy Cup for the fifth time in seven years with a commanding victory over Galway in Sunday’s final at Croke Park, with Hegarty at the heart of that success and now a 1/7 favourite to be crowned Hurler of the Year.

The St. Patrick’s club man has already been singled out as the standout performer of the campaign by RTÉ’s Sunday Game panel and has left goalkeeper Nickie Quaid a distant second favourite in the betting at 4/1. Cathal O’Neill, who delivered a man-of-the-match display in the final with an impressive tally of 1-4, is priced at 25/1.

Limerick have also been installed as 11/8 favourites to retain their All-Ireland crown in 2027, with Cork considered the main challengers at 5/2.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BOYLE Sports, said:

“Gearóid Hegarty has been absolutely colossal for Limerick this season and the one-way traffic in the Hurler of the Year betting suggests a further accolade is a foregone conclusion.”
