The Irish Open is the final event before the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, the flagship tournament of the DP World Tour.

How to Watch in Ireland
Thursday
Irish viewers can watch the Irish Open on RTÉ2 with coverage for day one on Thursday beginning at 1.30pm and running all the way through until 7pm in the evening. This means that you'll be able to watch all of Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry's opening rounds on terrestrial television in Ireland.
Friday
On day 2 coverage begins on RTÉ2 at 9.30am which coincides with Rory McIlroy's second round tee time while Shane Lowry tees off ten minutes later at 9.40am. Coverage runs through to 3.05pm which once again will allow Irish viewers to watch all of the action from McIlroy and Lowry's rounds.
There's more coverage from 5pm until 7pm on RTÉ2 for action from the late afternoon groups as the cut after round 2 will be finalised.
The Weekend
Saturday coverage on RTÉ2 begins at 2.30pm and runs through to 7.30pm.
Sunday coverage on RTÉ2 begins at 1.30pm and runs through to 6.30pm on the final day of the tournament.

Friday

The Weekend

Irish Open Favourites McIlroy & Rahm Hoping to join exclusive club
Rory McIlroy is favourite to defend the Irish Open title he won in dramatic fashion 12 months but he won’t be expecting an easy ride in a strong field that includes major champions, Ryder Cup heroes and former world number ones.
The 37-year-old won his second Irish Open crown last November after overturning a two-shot deficit on the 72nd hole to beat Sweden’s Joakim Lagergren in a play-off at the K Club, venue for his 2016 victory. The Northern Irishman will now look to retain his crown at Doonbeg in County Clare, as Trump International Golf Links and Hotel hosts the tournament for the first time.
McIlroy, who was also Irish Open runner-up in 2024, is 5/1 to take the honours again on Sunday but there are a whole host of players who will be looking to upstage the world number two on his return to DP World Tour action.
Chief among them is Spanish superstar Jon Rahm, who, like McIlroy, is looking to join Seve Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, Bernhard Langer and Colin Montgomerie as the only three-time winners of the Irish Open.
Rahm is coming off another dominant season with LIV Golf where he has won the Individual Championship in each of his three seasons. He is 13/2 second-favourite heading into this week as he looks to add to his 2017 and 2019 Irish Open wins, while his LIV colleague Joaquin Niemann is 12/1 to become the tournament’s first Chilean champion.
The Contenders
Ryder Cup stars expected to challenge in front of US President
Alongside McIlroy and Rahm, five other members of Europe’s victorious 2025 Ryder Cup team are also teeing up this week, and Robert MacIntyre (12/1), Tyrrell Hatton (16/1), Shane Lowry (20/1) and Rasmus Hojgaard (25/1) are among those expected to mount a challenge. Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald is also playing, although at 500/1, the 48-year-old is a long shot for victory.
Lowry is another former winner of this event, and his 2009 success in his home Open was one he won't forget. The Irishman claimed victory as a 22-year-old amateur on what was his DP World Tour debut, recovering from missing a four-foot putt for victory on the last to beat Robert Rock on the third play-off hole. We like 11/2 for him to finish in the top five this time.
Lowry’s compatriot Padraig Harrington (200/1) along with American duo Patrick Reed (22/1), Brooks Koepka (25/1) and Spanish ace Sergio Garcia (40/1) are set to add further star dust to this week’s field, even if their chances of victory seem remote. Between them, the quartet have won 10 major titles, numerous Ryder Cups and, in the case of Koepka, spent almost a year as world number one.
Whoever comes out on top this week, they could well be presented with the trophy by Trump. The US President, who owns the Doonbeg course, is in the country this weekend to meet Irish President Catherine Connolly and is expected to attend the tournament.
