The DP World Tour moves on to Madrid this week and we’ve got three selections for punters to consider in our Open de Espana betting tips .
Accurate approach play is required for the relatively small greens at Club de Campo , but rather lenient rough does allow the long drivers to be aggressive off the tee.
Jon Rahm has regularly sent the home fans wild at this event, winning in 2018, 2019 and 2022 and only losing out in a play-off against compatriot Angel Hidalgo a couple of years ago.
However, the big Spaniard will be missing this time around as his wife is due to give birth to their fourth child, so here are our picks to take advantage of his absence, with BOYLE Sports generously offering each-way terms on 10 places .

David Puig
DAVID PUIG @ 16/1
The 24-year-old from Barcelona was three shots ahead at one point on the final day before ultimately finishing third behind Hidalgo and Rahm in 2024 and posted four sub-70 rounds to finish T9 here last year.
Puig had a rock-solid season in the LIV Golf League , posting five top-10 placings, including a T5 on home turf again in Andalucia , to help him finish ninth in the overall standings .
His recent efforts on this tour haven’t made any headlines but after closing with a promising 68 at the BMW PGA Championship , Puig appeared to be driving well at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship , albeit only finishing T51.
If getting back on Spanish soil provides the usual inspiration, it wouldn’t require too much improvement to see him move into contention this week.
Tom McKibbin
TOM McKIBBIN @ 22/1
The 23-year-old Northern Irishman was another player in good spirits in the LIV Golf League before that campaign was cut short, finishing T6 in New York and T12 in Indianapolis.
McKibbin had no trouble in transferring that form to the DP World Tour when enjoying top-six placings at the British Masters and the Irish Open , prior to suffering a blip at the BMW PGA Championship.
Last November’s Hong Kong Open success showed he can perform at this time of the year and McKibbin ticks the right boxes for this event, being a big hitter off the tee and accurate with his approach play.
Jose Luis Ballester
JOSE LUIS BALLESTER @ 28/1
We’re getting back to the home advantage angle for our third selection, with former top amateur Ballester taken to build on an encouraging effort at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship .
The 23-year-old posted a trio of 68s in Scotland before faltering slightly on day four with a 71 which saw him slip just outside the top 10.
That came on the back of a nice showing in a DP World Tour Qualifying School event in Huddersfield as the Spaniard looks to transition back from the LIV scene, on which he performed with credit alongside compatriots Sergio Garcia and Puig in the Fireballs team.
