Friday ITV Racing Tips
We’ve got Classic action in our ITV racing tips from Epsom for Friday, with the Oaks headlining six contests on the box. Punters also have the Group Three Diomed Stakes , the Woodcote Stakes for juveniles and three ultra-competitive handicaps to get stuck into, so here are our selections:
Epsom 13:30 Tip
13:30 ‘DASH’ HANDICAP – NAANA’S SHADOW @ 11/2
Katie Scott’s filly is in good form after following up a pillar-to-post Catterick victory by just getting collared close to home in a big field at York . This sharp track is expected to suit and the booking of Oisin Murphy only adds to her appeal.
Epsom 14:05 Tip
14:05 WOODCOTE STAKES – POSSESSIVE @ 11/4
Was an impressive winner on his debut for Karl Burke and can improve further to take the Woodcote Stakes .
The son of Lucky Vega and German 1000 Guineas ace Txope showed plenty of heart in a competitive novice at York’s Dante Festival to secure a one-length success and looks another hot prospect off the Spigot Lodge handler’s high-quality production line of juveniles.
Epsom 14:40 Tip
14:40 DIOMED STAKES – PERSICA @ 5/2
Richard Hannon’s five-year-old has a perfect record at Epsom and has a great chance to make it three from three here when defending his Diomed Stakes crown.
Persica finished over five lengths behind Damysus in fourth when reappearing in the Earl of Sefton Stakes at Newmarket , but the New Bay colt tends to need a run before he gets his season up and running.
He is the only horse in the field to have won at this track, having claimed a handicap in 2024 before edging out Ice Max , who reopposes, by three-quarters of a length in last year’s renewal of this contest.
Epsom 15:15 Tip
15:15 ‘NIFTY 50’ HANDICAP – SALLAAL @ 4/1
This son of Frankel is a half-brother to Group One winners Benbatl and Elmalka and has already upheld family honour with three victories himself, two novice events and a hot Hamilton handicap.
Having been gelded over the winter, Sallaal was a real eyecatcher on his four-year-old debut when running on well for a course-and-distance second after arguably being given too much to do.
Epsom 16:00 Tip
16:00 BETFRED OAKS – AMELIA EARHART (NAP) @ 9/4
Aidan O’Brien ’s top hope from three entries is fancied to justify favouritism and give the Ballydoyle maestro a 12 th Oaks success. It took the Camelot filly five attempts to shed her maiden tag at Leopardstown in October, but she did so in emphatic style with a seven-length victory.
On returning to action last month, an impressive two-length Cheshire Oaks triumph catapulted Amelia Earhart into contention for Classic glory and the softer conditions at Epsom are not thought to be an issue. Her win at Chester proved stamina is not a problem and with Ryan Moore booked ahead of two stablemates, O’Brien could be heading to an eighth victory in the last 12 renewals.
Epsom 16:40 Tip
16:40 WORLD POOL HANDICAP – CELEBORN @ 5/1
Was far from disgraced when returning from over a year off at Newbury three weeks ago and should now strip much fitter at a track where he was a very comfortable scorer last April.
