Nicky Henderson’s superstar is taken to overcome the toughest test of his Flat career to date in the Group Three September Stakes. The nine-year-old won the Champion Hurdle in 2023, but his jumping began to unravel and a switch to the level has brought a new lease of life to the gelding.
Constitution Hill was brilliant on his Flat debut at Southwell and followed that up with a straightforward victory at this venue, so we know the surface at the Sunbury track suits and Billy Loughnane riding for the first time is hardly a negative.

The William Haggas -trained colt made his seasonal debut in the Cathedral Stakes at Salisbury in May, laying down a challenge at the furlong marker and keeping on well to hold off Spy Chief by a neck. That set him up for the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot and he duly obliged at the highest level for the first time, getting up close home to head international raiders Satono Reve and Joliestar.
Almeraq came unstuck in the July Cup at Newmarket when badly drawn and racing without the cover that brings out the best in him, eventually finishing ninth of the 11 runners, but a line can be put through that run and he was won with cut in the ground, so Sprint Cup success is on the cards.
