This juvenile shaped with plenty of encouragement when third on his Sandown introduction just over five weeks ago , just lacking a gear to go with the first two in the last of seven furlongs. Somerton looks ready for a step up to the mile he encounters on the Sussex Downs and with normal improvement ought to be heavily involved in the finish.

14:00 Goodwood – Principality @ 5/1
Harry Eustace ’s four-year-old won in far more testing conditions over this course and distance last summer and returns having won two of his last three starts , most recently triumphing on a quick surface at Newmarket. Principality is clearly versatile ground-wise and a 2lb rise for his latest success looks more than fair.
14:15 Beverley Tip
14:15 Beverley – Jm Jungle @ 3/1
The Beverley Bullet is the main event on the Westwood and the vote goes to John and Sean Quinn’s high-class sprinter , who can capitalise on dropping back down in grade. JM Jungle has not managed to get his head in front since striking Group Two gold in the King George Stakes at Goodwood last summer , but he has been competing against some of the best horses in the division.
The six-year-old was not beaten far when defending his Goodwood title on his penultimate start and also performed creditably in first-time blinkers in the Nunthorpe at York last week , where he did much of his running on what turned out to be the wrong side of the track.
14:55 Yarmouth Tip
14:55 Yarmouth – Kinswoman
The William Haggas-trained filly has been a bit disappointing so far this year but is backed to come good here . A half-sister to several winners, including Lockinge hero Audience , this four-year-old won three times last season but has come up short so far this term.
That being said, she has run in Listed and Group Three company and was beaten less than three lengths when favourite for the Dash at Epsom on Derby day. Now 5lb lower, Kinswoman is weighted to go close.
15:10 Goodwood Tip
15:10 Goodwood – Aperoll (Nap) @ 4/1
Trainer Richard Hannon was effusive in his praise of the Ghaiyyath filly following her winning debut at Newbury in July and that form has worked out extremely well, with the second, third and fourth all scoring at least once since. Aperoll then stepped up to take on the boys at Royal Ascot and only enhanced her reputation in finishing a close third, having set out to make all the running.
She got back on the winning trail in the Listed Star Stakes at Sandown last month, albeit by a diminishing neck having again raced enthusiastically on the front end throughout. Her keen-going running style suggests she will be better suited by this less demanding track and Aperoll should prove hard to beat in the Prestige Fillies’ Stakes.
15:30 Cork Tip
15:30 Cork – Prevalence E/W @ 14/1
The Group Three Coolmore Stud Little Big Bear Stakes looks a wide-open affair, so we’re taking a chance with this Ger Lyons-trained filly at an each-way price. Prevalence steps up in class after landing a Curragh handicap last time out but the way she came through to beat 19 rivals in emphatic fashion that day was most encouraging.
