Lowry's Wins In 2023
Lowry is without a victory in 2023, with his most recent win coming at the BMW PGA Championship back in September of 2022. In that event he beat second-placed Rory Mcllroy and Jon Rahm by one stroke. In 2023 the closest he has come to victory was back in February at the Honda Classic, where he finished tied for fifth, five strokes back from the winner Christian Kirk.Lowry's Recent Major Form
Lowry has played his best stuff this year at the bigger events which is reason for optimism ahead of this year's Open Championship despite a generally lacklustre season. The Irish man has finished in the top-20 at all three of the majors so far this year. He began that run with a solid T16 at the Masters. Lowry would then build on that with a T12 finish at Oak Hill in the PGA Championship. Unfortunately, his progressive form didn't continue at the US Open but he still managed to place T20 which is another decent four days of major golf that he has put together in 2023.The optimistic outlook on Lowry's major performances thus far in 2023 is that if he can make a few more putts at Hoylake we could see him right in the mix. The Clara native is also of course very much at home on links golf courses having won an Irish Open and The Open itself in his career. Most Recent Form
Lowry's recent form has been quite interesting. His last five tournament finishes read as:Travelers Championship - T19US Open - T20Canadian Open - T43The Memorial - T16The PGA Championship - T12On one hand Lowry hasn't missed a cut and has finished top-20 in four of those last five outings. On the other hand, you would like to see some top-10 and even top-5 finishes from a player of Lowry's calibre. The Co. Offaly man is currently ranked 30th in the Official World Golf Rankings and 77th on the FedEx Money List. It has been a pretty underwhelming season by Lowry's high standards. It's safe to say that he will be coming into this year's Open Championship under the radar but if something clicks he could find himself in contention.Shane Lowry's Form At The Open
Lowry's best finish at The Open Championship came in 2019, where he shot an impressive -15 under to storm the field and win his first major title in emphatic fashion by six strokes from his closest challenger Tommy Fleetwood in second place. Most recently, he finished T12 in 2021 and T21 in 2022.His full record is as follows from 10 entries in The Open; he has been cut six times, 4 Top-25 appearances, 2 Top-10s, 1 Top-5 and one victory. If Lowry is to go on and win this year's Open Championship he will have to beat out friend Rory McIlroy who is the current favourite for this year's fourth major.
