The one blot on his card came during last year’s Cheltenham Festival in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle where he was pulled up in a race won by a certain Constitution Hill.
Mighty Potter is widely fancied at 11/10 to put that defeat behind him and with tags like “up there with Elliot’s best at the moment” being attributed to the gelding, he could leave Cheltenham 2023 with five victories on-the-spin.
Prior to that we saw him come third in a ten-horse field over the 2-mile 4-furlong trip at Fairyhouse where he was beaten 18.5 lengths by the winner, and favourite for this race, Mighty Potter.
Although Banbridge hasn't been overly impressive in his last two appearances he does have bring some favourable course form with him to Cheltenham. He won here on this most recent appearance at Cheltenham's Old course when he beat a six-horse field by six lengths.
Banbridge is a 10/3 chance to return to winning form at Cheltenham for the O’Brien team and avenge his previous defeat to Might Potter.
The bay gelding's last time out on track was during the Dublin Racing Festival on the 4th of February which turned out not to be the horse’s best day on track. He came third in an eight-horse field over a 2-mile 1-furlong trip, finishing 10 lengths back of winner El Fabiolo.
During the 2023 BoyleSports Cheltenham Preview Night, former jockey David Casey who rides the horse out every morning argued that the ground was a bit too soft for the horse and the trip was too short. Previous to that race this Mullins horse had been in good form having won two on-the-spin for a cumulative margin-of-victory of twenty-eight lengths.
Appreciate it is currently a 4/1 shot to win the Cheltenham Turners Novices Chase.
The horse's last victory came on the 26th of December in Kempton where he topped a ten-horse field over the 2-mile 4 ½ furlong trip by nine lengths. Balco Coastal is a 10/1 chance to win the Cheltenham Turners Novice Chase.
Since returning to racing this horse boasts an almost faultless record with three wins from four runs. His last defeat came back in November when he was beaten five lengths by Sebastopol but has since gone on to win record two wins on the trot.
Last time out on track for Stage Star was also in Cheltenham on the 28th of January at Festival Trials Day when the horse bested an eleven-horse-field over a 2-mile 4 ½ furlong trip by 3.75 lengths.
Stage Star is 10/1 for the Cheltenham Turners Novice Chase to make it three wins in-a-row on track.
