A football punter in Waterford is celebrating a significant boost to their finances as the festive season kicks off after they pocketed €42,681 from an ambitious €37.50 football flutter.
It was goals galore in the opening half for the punter as they only had a 45-minute sweat to land the monster sum with three first half handicap plays in the EFL Trophy play-offs and an over 1.5 goals punt on the National League Trophy action.
Bolton’s Ibrahim Cissoko netted an early brace on the way to a 3-0 for The Trotters, before Bristol Rovers took an early 2-0 lead to cover the -1 first half handicap before eventually stuttering through on penalties.
It was smoother sailing for Doncaster Rovers who cruised to a 3-0 lead by the half hour mark before a 44 th minute goal bagged the loot on an over 1.5 first half goal punt on Boreham Wood.
Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BOYLE Sports, said:
“We send huge congratulations to our latest big winner, and their festive budget is bulging as much as the football net was this week. There’s never a bad time to scoop a five-figure windfall, but to do it just before the Christmas shopping rush was a stroke of genius!”
