Recently Mcllroy has not been in good form having being cut at both The Masters and The Players Championship, the two biggest events in the golfing calendar to date.
Scheffler's most recent victory came in The Players Championship winning it by five shots with a score of -17 under par. He has made three appearances at the US Open being cut in 2019, tied for seventh in 2021 and tied for second in 2022.
Morikawa won his first appearance at the USPGA in 2020 and only his second major championship. His final round of 64 tied the lowest final round score shot by a PGA Champion thus becoming the third youngest golfer to win the PGA Championship when he won the event at age 23.
The American has made four appearances at the US Open being tied for thirty-fifth in 2019, cut in 2020, tied for fourth in 2021 and tied for fifth in 2022.
