As tricky a race as it gets, but preference is for POURQUOI POI. He landed a handicap hurdle at this track in October and ran okay on chase debut last time but is bred to relish this distance so improvement can be expected. A Year Older appeals as the second choice, while others to note are handicap chase debutant Tiffiny's Girl, Wexford winner North Of Nashville and Il Silenzio. [Conor Fennelly] Show less
Spotlight: Two-time handicap chase winner by wide margins, both coming at Wexford, including last time when scoring by an easy 9l off 8lb lower mark; can go well again but didn't back up a similarly comprehensive win in 2023 so not guaranteed to reproduce that effort.
Spotlight: Looked very limited until springing a 40-1 surprise at Fairyhouse over hurdles (3m2f, yielding) in January, form which has worked out well; fell four out over fences next time but made no mistake in scoring at Limerick 16 days ago, beating Cullenwaine by 0.75l; 5lb rise fine and he should relish this extra distance.
Spotlight: One win from seven starts coming at this track in a handicap hurdle (2m4f, good) in October off 87; backed that up when fifth at Thurles before fading tamely at Kilbeggan; okay debut over fences when beaten 10l into sixth at Downpatrick 15 days ago; bred to enjoy this step up in trip and an interesting handicap debutant.
Spotlight: Improved for being sent chasing last summer and landed a Roscommon handicap on his third start over fences when last seen 305 days ago, travelling powerfully before beating subsequent winner Hit The Frame by 2.75l; unexposed for an 8yo and big chance off 6lb higher mark if ready to go after absence.
Spotlight: Couple of fair efforts in maiden hurdles last year, not out of the first three in four point-to-points this year; landed a maiden hunters chase at Cork by 12l and backed up that run when second to Muskerry Rock at Wexford 30 days ago; on a fair mark on handicap chase debut and open to more improvement than most.
Spotlight: Improved for switch to handicap company last twice over hurdles, finishing third at Cork before scoring at Kilbeggan (3m, good) 43 days ago, beating Plain Or Battered by 1.25l; races off a 3lb higher chase mark here and a contender for last year's winning yard.
Spotlight: Both career wins came at this track, including off 5lb lower over fences in December over 2m4f; couple of good placed efforts this year, most notably when beaten 4l into third at Tramore in April (Aclass in second); let down by jumping when well-held over shorter trip at Ballinrobe 12 days ago; could figure back up in trip with 5lb claimer taking over.
Spotlight: Winner of Tramore beginners chase (2m5f, soft); bounced back after a couple of underwhelming runs when beaten a neck off 2lb lower mark at Tramore two starts ago; probably did too much too soon at same track lto; one of the more likely contenders; stays this trip.
Spotlight: Point winner who was struggling over hurdles when returning from a long absence but has fared much better in two starts in handicap chases, beaten 10l into fourth over 3m2f at Down Royal 55 days ago; drop in trip sure to suit and chance.
Spotlight: Won over extended 2m5f at Leopardstown last year off 1lb lower, was set to back that up next time at Fairyhouse when unseating two out; not much to recommend in next three starts but fared a bit better over longer trip at Down Royal 33 days ago when fourth; dropped another 2lb and needs more.
Spotlight: Two-time chase winner, winless since November 2023; had been running poorly but ran better when beaten 10l into fourth at Limerick 16 days ago in first-time cheekpieces having been hampered two out; they're left on now and he's on a nice mark if he can build on that.
Spotlight: Three-time chase winner, twice over this distance at Ayr on soft; pulled up on last chase run at Down Royal and below-par hurdles at Sligo 25 days ago; put two decent runs back-to-back prior to Down Royal effort and chance if bouncing back; enjoys soft ground.
Spotlight: Dual hurdle and chase winner who has won off higher marks in the past; not shown enough this year in recent months in either sphere to suggest a revival is imminent.
Spotlight: Strong stayer but winless in over three years and 1-24 over fences; positive run when fourth at Haydock two starts ago but didn't show much over the banks lto; mark continues to slide and shouldn't be discounted.
Spotlight: Has been struggling for over a year; three runs this year, pulling up twice and being well held over hurdles at Cork; slipping in the weights but little other reasons to recommend him back over fences up in trip in first-time blinkers.
Spotlight: Standout form in 14 starts came when beaten 1.75l by Je T'ai Porte at Limerick a year ago; not threatened to rediscover that run since and hasn't completed in last three starts; up in trip.
Spotlight: A maiden in 18 starts, four over fences, but put in three fair efforts over fences last year, most notably when second to Hit The Frame at Wexford, before being pulled up at this track over hurdles 177 days ago; 5lb out of the handicap off basement mark here but could go well.
