Tim Easterby's QUEST FOR FUN added to his many good efforts in big-field C&D handicaps when an arguably unlucky third last time and gets the vote from the same mark. Inspired finished a place behind the selection (and also shaped well) in that same C&D contest and may provide the chief threat if stall 17 isn't too big an inconvenience. Great Dream is also drawn wider than ideal but remains one who could do well for William Haggas, particularly now back at 7f. Jannas Journey, The Green Man and the reappearing Our Havana, who goes well fresh, complete the shortlist. [Andrew Sheret] Show less
Spotlight: Plenty of C&D form in big fields, notably wins on good to soft in July of 2023 and 2025; behind Leadman when fifth at the Dante meeting last month but well in front of David O'Meara's charge and looked a bit unlucky (met trouble) when third of 22 back here three weeks ago; solid.
Spotlight: 1m AW winner last December, caught the eye back from a gelding operation when fourth (Quest For Fun third) of 22 over C&D (good) last month, finishing well after repeatedly meeting trouble; couldn't fully confirm that promise but still ran respectably when fourth again (Orne third) at Wetherby (7f, good to firm) last Thursday; one to consider.
Spotlight: Had a wonderful 2025, winning seven times at 6f-1m on a range of surfaces; back on last winning mark and first sign of encouragement this year when running on for fourth of nine over 7f at Carlisle (good to firm) 13 days ago; player if she can build on that.
Spotlight: Ended his 2025 campaign with a heavy-ground 7f double at Doncaster; started this season with good thirds at Doncaster (22-runner Spring Mile; good to soft) and Chester (7.6f, good) but needs to bounce back from a lesser effort at Newbury last time; any easing of the ground would be in his favour; connections have tasted recent success in this.
Spotlight: Has an underwhelming strike-rate, given his ability, and his two C&D runs last month (both good ground) rather sum him up, shaping very well when second of 22 at the Dante meeting but never involved when favourite eight days later; could pop up but it's likely things will need to drop this hold-up performer's way.
Spotlight: Won an AW maiden at Newcastle (7f) last September and ended his 3yo campaign for the Crisford stable with a good of 13 in a Yarmouth handicap (7f, good to soft) in October; having been gelded he was sent off favourite to make a winning start for William Haggas over 1m at Salisbury three weeks ago, but failed to pick up having had to switch to get a run; quickly reverts to 7f and remains with potential for his new yard; stall 18 not ideal, though.
Spotlight: Smart earlier in career; yet to win for this yard but gave it a good shot from the front when third over C&D (good) at the Dante meeting and bounced back from a lesser effort over 6f here when third (Inspired fourth) of 14 at Wetherby (good to firm; made running again) last week; each-way claims again.
Spotlight: Good C&D record includes a win in this race (good to firm) off 1lb higher last year; good second at Southwell (7f) in January but always behind over C&D four months later; may well have needed that outing but needed to see more to be confident.
Spotlight: Ended 2025 with a breakthrough win in novice company at Lingfield (6f, AW) in December; returned with a respectable sixth of 18 in 6f Ascot handicap (good to firm) five weeks ago and he's entitled to build on that now stepping back up in trip.
Spotlight: No great strike-rate but a switch to hold-up tactics worked a treat when landing a second career win at Newcastle (1m, AW) ten days ago, doing well to get up having not got in the clear until inside the final furlong; a shorter trip and different track mean similar tactics may not be as easy to pull off this time.
Spotlight: Lightly raced 4yo who won two 1m races (good) in Ireland last year, but hasn't seen his race out in three outings over that trip for Declan Carroll this spring; now drops to 7f for the first time since his debut.
Spotlight: Recorded useful wins on AW and turf last spring; not in the same form later in 2025 but has dipped back to a good mark as a result and he's gone well fresh before; no surprise were he to stage a revival back from wind surgery.
Spotlight: Has raced almost exclusively on Newcastle's AW since joining Phil Kirby last autumn, winning three times (6f/7f) and placed on six other occasions, including last four starts; three 6f turf wins earlier in career (including here on good to firm) provide hope that he can continue the good work now back on the grass.
Spotlight: His six successes include four last season; his second at Thirsk (6f, good to firm) in May shows he retains all his ability and two lesser efforts since have resulted in him dropping to 1lb below his last winning mark; has done most of his winning over 6f but scored over 7f in 2024.
Spotlight: Successful over 7f at Carlisle (good to firm) and Ayr (soft) in the second half of last season; left his first two efforts of the new campaign behind when third of ten back at Carlisle (1m, good) 13 days ago; claims if he can build on that from a handy inside stall.
Spotlight: Losing run stretches back over two years; best effort this year when fifth of eight over 7f at Goodwood (soft) on Sunday, but he'll need more if he's to exploit his reduced mark.
Spotlight: In good order on AW over the winter but made no more than a respectable return to turf after a break when fifth of six at Hamilton 5f, good) 16 days ago; has done the majority of his racing over sprint trips but was successful over 7f last year.
Spotlight: Encouraging return when sixth of 19 at Doncaster (6f, good to soft) in March, but didn't back that up when last back there (6f again) three weeks ago; only 1lb above his winning mark from last autumn but he'll need things to fall right from stall 20.
Spotlight: Both wins have come over 7f at Ayr, surging back to form when scoring there on good to firm last month; a lesser run over 6f has followed but a revival isn't ruled out back at 7f from a good draw.
Spotlight: Third in last year's International at Ascot (7f, good) off this mark, but he's not straightforward and last month's reappearance for a new stable with a tongue-tie added (retained) was disappointing (reported to have lost a shoe); drawn wide and can only really watch.
Spotlight: Veteran who won over 7f at Southwell in January but has been operating below his best since; drawn widest and likely best to look elsewhere.
