Typically highly competitive. COUL ANGEL has a sporting chance of reversing recent York form with top-weight Sondad, with likely players from the home challenge including Keke, Red Evolution, Amiata and the still unexposed 3yo Bear On The Run. [Alan Hewison] Show less
Spotlight: Scurry win (beating Dark Thirty) in July came over slightly further off 98, and most recently recorded seventh career win when landing a big pot at York last month (Coul Angel third) on good-to-soft; still improving 5yo up 16lb this season but has to be respected.
Spotlight: Yet to score this season but latest two placings in big York handicaps have been career-bests, most recently strong-finishing third (beaten little over 1l) of 20 behind Sondad after being switched; 4lb better off with that rival so certainly has his chance.
Spotlight: Lightly raced 3yo was having her first run since landing an AW maiden last October when beating some experienced rivals on handicap debut over C&D last month, coming late; just a 2lb higher mark here and quite likely has more improvement in her; very interesting contender, albeit this is a much deeper race.
Spotlight: Three Curragh wins include two premier handicaps at 5f and has added two wins this season at Naas; holding his form well, including Scurry fourth to Sondad and staying on fourth to Bear On The Run under top-weight over today's C&D; booking of talented 7lb claimer could prove a shrewd move.
Spotlight: Ended last season with C&D win and repeated the feat on seasonal return in March; career-best when upped to 7f at Cork in May when a clear second (beaten a neck) to an improver on favoured soft ground; still-improving 4yo has been waiting for the ground and may not get it.
Spotlight: Coaxed back to his best by the Quinns this year, winning 6f handicaps here and at Chester before narrow defeat to Sondad in the Scurry Handicap; both recent efforts below best however so needs to bounce back but meets Sondad on 8lb better terms.
Spotlight: Better AW performer, gaining fifth win last month at Dundalk over this trip; some good turf efforts in defeat earlier in season, notably Rockingham staying on third at this venue (5f); runs off 6lb lower turf mark here and has to be respected.
Spotlight: Prominent racer followed up Naas win (6f, good) with good fourth of 22 in valuable York contest in June; given a break since, this easier ground should suit.
Spotlight: Successful on second start for current yard when taking premier Habitat Handicap over C&D in May; bit underwhelming both starts since here, never counting after an awkward start in Scurry Handicap and not pace to challenge back to 5f behind Rosie Frith last month.
Spotlight: Dual C&D winner last October on easy ground; restricted campaign this year but recent Galway second a fine effort back on favoured ground; could go well.
Spotlight: Won this race last year off 91 and back to that level of form when winning Fairyhouse conditions event and second in Listed here in June; below best, albeit not knocked about once beaten in Scurry won by Sondad following month and has been given a break since.
Spotlight: Former French Listed winner scored for this yard in soft-ground Goodwood handicap in June and didn't run badly over same C&D last month, having travelled well; any rain would help his cause.
Spotlight: Most consistent sprinter, scoring over C&D earlier in season and battled on well to land Rockingham Handicap (5f) in June; subsequently third of 20 to Sondad in Scurry over further and good third to Bear On The Run over C&D latest; model of consistency but could be vulnerable off likely strong pace and 4lb out of handicap.
Spotlight: Ten career wins include 2023 Scurry Handicap here and has added lesser events this year at Leicester and Hamilton, also Epsom fourth to Sondad on soft; not as same level at Goodwood latest but not one to dismiss.
Spotlight: Lightly raced 3yo won AW maiden in the spring and Fairyhouse rated race (7f) in June but following month turned over at odds-on in similar Naas contest behind an improver; back in trip for second handicap attempt, probably needs to improve.
Spotlight: All five wins have come on the AW, most recently good third to Dark Ace at Dundalk last month; fair bit to find with some of these on two runs here in premier handicaps, penultimate behind Sondad in Scurry.
Spotlight: Was gaining first win at this trip when defying top-weight at Naas last month in a first-time tongue-tie, settling better; previously didn't get home over extended 6f of Scurry Handicap when seventh of 20 behind Sondad but may well get a lot closer this time.
Spotlight: Having a good season, recrding wins at Naas, Curragh and last month at Navan over this trip; drop back to 5f backfired at latter venue nine days later so will appreciate return to this trip; could go well.
Spotlight: Career-best when landing C&D fillies handicap in April on testing ground; not as effective on quicker ground later in month in Naas contest won by Keke and has had time off since; ideally wants it softer.
Spotlight: Better strike rate on the AW, most recent turf win coming over 5f at Navan last year; generally below best this season, plenty to find with some of these on Scurry form but handicapper giving him a chance.
Spotlight: Improving 5f handicapper, winning at Bellewstown and most recently relished quick ground when leading from halfway here last month; withdrawn since at Cork on account of yielding ground so won't want much rain and this stiff 6f a challenge stamina-wise.
Spotlight: Three-time Fairyhouse winner has been running well this season in defeat; latest AW run leaves him with something to find and 7lb out of handicap here.
Spotlight: Hasn't really built on decent 2yo form of last year, although did scramble home in maiden here in June; not pace to challenge on handicap debut later same month on quick ground and has had a break since; 9lb out of handicap here.
Spotlight: Listed winner last season for Jack Davison; below best in light campaign this term until more encouraging effort on yard debut eight days ago in this headgear combination, staying on into third (well behind front two) over 5f at Navan; more needed here in a much deeper race.
Spotlight: Dual AW winner; gained his first turf success off 72 when making all in a 20-runner contest here in June but form since has been regressive, most recently at Cork on Wednesday; 6lb wrong here.
Spotlight: Bought for 35,000gns from Owen Burrows in July and off the mark at third attempt for Michael Grassick when making most over 7f at Gowran last month on fast ground; poor run on softer ground over same C&D since; drops in trip here and 7lb out of handicap.
