Spotlight: Consistent last season and was 20-1 for Newbury's big handicap in February in which he clipped heels and came down before swinging for home; has a generally progressive profile and can go well when fresh; shortlisted.

Spotlight: Won his maiden hurdle on soft and his handicap on good; latest win was at Warwick (2m) where he readily accounted for a subsequent improver with Continuance and Wild Goose further behind; the 4lb rise now looks very lenient.

Spotlight: Novice wins on good to soft and heavy; failed to feature in two handicaps last season but both were fair races and he ran well to be third at Chepstow on his recent return (2m3f, good to soft); could have some role to play, for all that this looks stronger.

Spotlight: Handled soft ground in France but all best British form is on good or quicker; four hurdle wins since May, the victory at Sedgefield in September his first handicap (2m4f); that 8l success was off a 9lb lower mark and he's since been beaten under a penalty at Kelso where he kept hanging (behind Continuance); sure to be popular as a Skelton horse but that last run undermines his prospects.

Spotlight: Unraced on slower than good to soft; back from a break to record win number three over hurdles with a battling success at Southwell (2m) where he was only 4lb lower but had the benefit of a 10lb claimer up top; now he needs a career best to follow up.

Spotlight: Very capable chaser who has returned to hurdles for his last two races and, after a near miss at Plumpton, he made all at Chepstow (2m, good to soft) where he was clinging on at the finish; he's 3lb badly in with a penalty, though his chase mark is higher.

Spotlight: Runner-up on the New course here last November off this very mark; often races freely with and without headgear, but had Loriko behind when runner-up in a hood at Kelso a month ago (2m5f, good to firm; handles good to soft); dropping back in trip looks a good thing and he's worth considering.

Spotlight: Fifth in this last year off 3lb higher; took a valuable handicap hurdle at Galway in August (good to yielding) for sixth win over hurdles; however, since well held at Killarney and back on the Flat, while any late rain would count against him.

Spotlight: The ground was fast when winning easily at Newton Abbot in August (2m1f; 7lb lower), good when just behind Gower Prince at Plumpton but good to soft when tailed off at Chepstow; with rain around, it's easy to have reservations about him; might be on a high mark anyway.

Spotlight: All the better for a tongue-tie going on and continued his good body of recent work with a fairly convincing win at Stratford (2m2f, good to firm); a 5lb rise isn't the end of the world but today's classier opposition could be; watch the weather when good or quicker seems ideal.

Spotlight: Won 1m7f handicaps last season on heavy and good to soft; as good as ever when second at Ayr in April (2m4f, soft) and would have a fighting chance if resuming where he left off.

Spotlight: 2-14 over hurdles and although yet to win a handicap he went close the once (2m4f, soft; 4lb higher); out of form when last seen well over a year ago but his trainer has won this race three times in the last seven years.

Spotlight: Has won over hurdles and fences this year; however, he wouldn't appreciate too much rain and, even on good ground, was no match for Wild Goose at Southwell last time.
