Spotlight: Only eighth of ten in Group 3 at Royal Ascot (wore cheekpieces) last time but he'd been progressive prior to that, finishing second in Listed race at Newmarket (1m2f, good/good to firm); no surprise whatsoever if his opening handicap mark underestimates him, and he's much feared in a first-time visor.

Spotlight: Ran well in defeat in Dubai on last two outings, off nearly six months since latest; successful at Doncaster (1m novice) and Newmarket (1m2f handicap) last summer on two most recent starts in Britain; ground softer than good would be an unknown, but he's lightly raced for his age and not ruled out with headgear fitted and a good-value claimer booked.

Spotlight: Progressive in handicaps last season, winning the Balmoral at Ascot (1m, good) on final start; may still have untapped potential but he ran poorly in Irish Group 3 on reappearance and is now fitted with a tongue-strap.

Spotlight: Only 2lb higher than when winning over C&D (good to firm) in July, and he's still well handicapped judged on the pick of his form from last autumn; saddle slipped when down the field in the Shergar Cup three weeks ago; tactically versatile, and plenty of rain would not inconvenience him in the slightest; has rock-solid credentials.

Spotlight: Has contested the Lincoln, Victoria Cup and Golden Mile this year, looking unlucky in first two and blowing the start in last-named; very dangerous if everything clicks, although his stamina for this longer trip has to be taken on trust (well held on both previous attempts at 1m1f/1m2f).

Spotlight: 3yo who won novice at Windsor (1m2f, good to firm) in June; hasn't kicked on in handicaps yet, but he wasn't beaten far when ninth at Glorious Goodwood four weeks ago; could still have potential and rain might suit him (impressive winner on only run on soft last autumn).

Spotlight: Made successful reappearance at Nottingham (1m2f, good) in April but hasn't built on that, only tenth at York in June; bit to prove.
