Rematches abound, as most of the runners have met previously. Talk Of New York has pulled hard at times and Rayif needs to show he can deliver outside France but they are otherwise improving colts who command plenty of respect, while Gstaad (second choice) has been a rock-solid performer in the main and would be a multiple Group 1 winner but for unbeaten Bow Echo being one of his contemporaries. A strong hand for the 3yos is completed by ZAVATERI who is peaking at the right time, remains particularly unexposed over 1m and may provide Eve Johnson Houghton with a first success in a race that her father Fulke landed three times. Back at the scene of his Queen Anne win, Ten Bob Tony could well prove best of the older runners.[Steve Boow] Show less
Spotlight: Campaigned mainly on good/firmer; normally a very solid performer; beaten favourite in the Moulin last time but that's the only time he has finished out of the first two; winner of the Irish 2,000 Guineas and would have landed three other major 1m races this term but for the presence of his esteemed nemesis Bow Echo; sticks to this distance instead of going for the Champion Stakes, which was the plan until a late switch-around with stablemate Constitution River; major contender, assuming he's back in top form.
Spotlight: Unraced on ground softer than good; sometimes fails to settle but he is very talented and has progressive form, mostly over 1m; emphatically justified favouritism in Group 2 at Newmarket last time, taking record to 4-7 and gaining compensation for a Glorious Goodwood loss that would have been a win but for ending up with too much to do; good third in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot in sole Group 1 attempt; leading contender.
Spotlight: French colt who beat Zeus Olympios by neck in the Marois at Deauville (good) returned to 1m most recently, adding to his Poulains success and taking record over this trip to 2-2 (overall strike-rate is 4-6); still improving and is belatedly set for the fascinating clash with Gstaad and Talk Of New York that he missed at Royal Ascot due to a slight fever; big player.
Spotlight: Good 7f performer for a long while; has shown career-best form in his 1m attempts this season, coming off a solid pace to register a 50-1 success in the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot (good to firm) then running creditably in the Sussex Stakes and Prix du Moulin; in the mix, especially if getting another well-run race.
Spotlight: Campaigned mostly on good/firmer; hit the line strongly in Group 2 at Doncaster when dropped back in trip last time, taking 7f record to 3-4 and strike-rate for current yard to 5-11; 0-4 over 1m otherwise this term but creditable second-place finishes in two top races, including the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot, bring him into the reckoning.
Spotlight: Unraced on ground softer than good; 4-4 in his first season last year; opened his 2026 account with success in the Summer Mile (Group 2) at Ascot and was beaten only a neck by Rayif in the Marois at Deauville despite rider dropping his whip over 1f out; made the frame in the Lockinge and Queen Anne earlier on; may still have a Group 1 in him.
Spotlight: Very likeable colt whose record of 4-5 as a 2yo featured a narrow defeat of Gstaad in Irish Group 1, again showing gameness; twice behind that rival since but holds a fighting chance in another rematch, having recorded a personal best by readily justifying favouritism in the Celebration Mile (Group 2) at Goodwood most recently; that was on soft ground but he has been effective on good/firmer; peaking at the right time and still unexposed over this distance; respected.
Spotlight: Stablemate of Gstaad; campaigned mostly in major races at about 1m2f this season, latterly failing to back up his French Derby and Eclipse efforts; 3-3 over 1m as a 2yo, culminating in Group 1 win on heavy ground, but faces a stiffer assignment in this field; visor applied for first time (has worn cheekpieces/blinkers).
Spotlight: Made the frame in this race last year, taking Ascot record to 11322214; however, has lost that consistency by finishing only seventh in the Queen Anne and sixth in the Summer Mile in his starts here during a 2026 campaign that commenced with Doncaster win; brings a doubt over current form; cheekpieces added.
Spotlight: Promised to be a top miler in 2025, having started that season in tremendous style, but has posted inconsistent figures since going close in the Lockinge; best effort of 2026 when fourth in that Newbury contest in May; down the field in this race 12 months ago; again looks up against it.
Spotlight: Successful in sole 2yo start; has performed well in a couple of Group 3 contests this term but was a disappointing favourite, albeit on heavy ground, kept to same grade last time; seemed unsuited by Newmarket in sole Group 1 attempt (2,000 Guineas); bottom on ratings back up in class.
