3yos have won five of the last six runnings and there are just two such contenders in today's line-up. BLUE COURVOISIER improved again to make all in a big field at York's Ebor meeting and earns the vote ahead of Royal Ascot winner Moonfall, who was a good second back at Ascot eight days ago. Inspired escapes a penalty for last Sunday's win at York and could prove best of the older contingent, while the in-form Bullet Point could also be involved.[Ben Hutton] Show less
Spotlight: Lightly raced 4yo who reappeared with a win in the Spring Mile over C&D (good to soft) and won the Buckingham Palace at Royal Ascot (7f, good to firm) in June; below best in the International at Ascot (7f, good to firm) in July last time but still of interest judged on previous exploits.
Spotlight: Three wins from his last four starts (soft-good to firm), the latest in an apprentice handicap against 18 rivals at York (1m) last Sunday; faces a higher calibre of opponent this afternoon but this progressive 4yo escapes a penalty for York and he did it nicely there; high on the list.
Spotlight: Won the Silver Bowl at Carlisle (1m, good to firm) in May and landed another competitive 3yo handicap at York (1m, good to soft) last month; he enjoyed the run of the race in front last time and is 8lb higher today, but he's clearly progressive and could play another leading role.
Spotlight: Won the Britannia at Royal Ascot (1m, good to firm) in June and rediscovered his progressive ways when second there (1m, good) last Friday; unraced on slow ground; this 3yo could continue to improve; firmly in calculations.
Spotlight: All eight starts on good/good to firm; his form has been up and down but he was back on song when third at Newbury (7f) last month and his strong finish suggests he should appreciate today's return to 1m; respected.
Spotlight: He's returned to form to finish second in these cheekpieces on his last two starts, at Ascot (1m, good to firm) and at York (1m, good to soft; won that same competitive handicap 12 months previously); solid claims.
Spotlight: Made all in good style at Newbury (1m, good to firm) in June and creditable fifth of 28 to Mezcala in the Buckingham Palace at Royal Ascot (7f, good to firm) when last seen; also effective on good to soft; this lightly raced 4yo may still have more to offer and he could be involved.
Spotlight: Ran well in the face of a tough task when fourth in Group 2 Celebration Mile at Goodwood (soft) a fortnight ago and he returns to a handicap on a mark 2lb lower than when fourth of 28 in the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot (1m, good to firm); has an each-way shout.
Spotlight: Three handicap wins last year (1m, good/good to firm) and runner-up at Newmarket (1m1f, good to firm) in May on his second start this season; merely mid-division in the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot (1m, good to firm) last time but he's not ruled out after a break; unproven on slow ground.
Spotlight: All four outings on AW/good to firm; won on debut at Newcastle last November and has run well in defeat on two of his three starts since, most recently a close fifth of ten at Newmarket last month; improvement is necessary but the way he kept on last time suggests this first crack at 1m could be a good move; wears first-time cheekpieces.
Spotlight: Well beaten at Sandown in June on sole outing this year and he refused to enter the stalls and was withdrawn there last month; however, he's 2lb lower than when second in this race last year so is capable of having a say.
Spotlight: 7yo who is winless since November 2023 but has dropped down the weights and he ran well when third of 13 at York (1m, good to firm) in July; had an excuse back there last time, when the blindfold was removed late; not ruled out each-way.
Spotlight: Two wins from his 13 starts (all for William Haggas) and, having edged down the weights, he's one to watch in the betting on his first run for the Quinns (remains in same ownership); however, he has a hefty absence to defy and this is a hot race; 0-4 in 2025.
Spotlight: Won at Newmarket (1m, good) and Epsom (8.5f, good to soft) in the first half of the year and he got no run when down the field in the Golden Mile at Goodwood (1m, good to firm) in July; however, he was soundly beaten at Ascot (1m, good to firm) last time and has to raise his game.
Spotlight: Group 1 runner-up in Australia in 2024; his mark continues to fall and he wasn't disgraced in mid-division at Chester three weeks ago, with these cheekpieces added, but others have more compelling claims.
Spotlight: 4-11 on AW as opposed to 0-6 on turf; second at Ascot (1m, good to firm) in May but not at the same level at Ascot/Newmarket on his two runs since.
Spotlight: Well handicapped judged on his 2024 Listed win but he drew a blank during his 2025 Australian campaign and has failed to shine in Britain this year.
